Why have we got to wear masks?
Wearing a mask in the corridor and communal spaces - and in shops when you're outside school - will help and protect you, your friends, family members, the elderly and the public to be safe and have a lower chance of catching the current virus that is tormenting us all. Studies show that masks significantly reduce the transmission of the droplets responsible for spreading the virus through the air. Wearing masks means that you and others can feel safer to go about your daily business without worrying about catching it. You may not think you're at great risk yourself, but everyone in the school either knows someone who is vulnerable, or even has a relative at home who is vulnerable. We wear masks to protect them.
Make sure you take a mask every time you leave home. You're helping not just yourself but protecting others too. Just before you leave the house, remember to pack your mask like you remember all your other essentials - keys, phone, money.
There’s no reason why you shouldn’t wear one unless you are medically exempt from wearing one. Wearing masks and suppressing transmission of the virus will help the world run normally again.
If everyone wears their masks when they're supposed to then we can reduce the risk of catching the virus and spreading it to our family members. This in turn means they won't have to self-isolate and not be able to go to work or school. Wearing a mask doesn't mean we ignore social distancing. Wearing a mask protects you but you still have to follow the other rules. With the virus spreading everywhere all over the world just by wearing a mask we can help fewer people get ill and die and we can go back to normal again sooner.
Please wear a mask to protect you and others - it helps to make us all safe. Remember we are all in this together.
