The impact of the Queen on her people

Queen Elizabeth II has provided a fundamental role in shaping Britain throughout her reign. Not only has she met and appointed 15 prime ministers throughout her reign (including the historic prime minister, Sir Winston Churchill) she was also responsible for the commonwealth and visited all the countries within it during her reign. Which is why her death has had such a global impact as she supported us and was a constant for most of our lives.
Queen Elizabeth became queen at the age of twenty five in 1952, after the unexpected death of her father, taking on a great responsibility at a very young age. The Queen promised to carry out her duties until her death: serving the people.
Queen Elizabeth made everyone feel like she could survive anything, which is why I think it’s been hard for people to believe that she is gone. For example, when she was riding her horse in a procession, she was shot at five times (luckily it was blanks) and didn’t even flinch or get off her horse. She was very resilient, despite facing many difficulties and media scandals within the royal family itself. For example, her sister Princess Margaret’s desire to marry with an unsuitable suitor, which the Queen, as the head of the Church of England, could not permit. The Queen also supported the nation through difficulties and tragedies - both personally and nationally. Such as, the death of Princess Diana and the fire at Windsor Castle. She also showed support to the people affected by the collapse of the mine in Wales when many school children were killed.
More recently, she has provided support to people during the Covid pandemic. She has dealt with many press scandals including her own son Andrew, being accused of acting indecently and the recent publicity regarding her grandson Harry who spoke out publicly about the royal family and the difficulties he faced growing up and in his married life with Meghan. The Queen has also endured the death of her beloved husband, Prince Philip who died in 2021.
The Queen has had a big impact on everyone’s lives; she has guided us all for seventy years. The Queen has supported us all throughout her life making public appearances all the time, showing her love to the people, which is why I think her death has made such a big impact on people. It felt like she was everyone’s grandma. She will be remembered for her love for her horses and her dogs, in particular her love of corgis. The fact that she never gave her political opinion meant that she didn’t lose any love from the people, so that when she died, we were all deeply moved.
She will be remembered forever - the longest reigning British monarch of all time.
