A letter to the human race...
Dear Humans,
There is a fundamental issue that needs to be addressed on the topic of racism: Institutional Racism.
Institutional Racism needs to be sorted out before anything else can. If there is racism inherently present in our institutions then nothing can get better.
We need a new generation of younger, more aware individuals to lead the world towards a place where people aren’t treated differently because of where they are from or their gender, or the colour of their skin. A world where we can celebrate our differences, and our similarities. An institution that treats everyone with the same level of respect and kindness.
Until such a time comes when we reach this point, how can we call ourselves civilised? How can we discriminate and call ourselves human? How is it democracy when people don’t have an equal say?
Change needs to happen. There has been good progress from the efforts of protesters, both online and out in the world, but it’s not enough. We cannot call ourselves a 'Modern Civilisation' when there is racism at an institutional level.
This is a democracy. Fight for equality, fight for an end to discrimination, for a world where people can live without fear of unfair, fundamentally wrong treatment.
Collectively, change can happen, And you and I have the power to make this change. So, sign petitions, educate yourselves on the racism going on in your country and around the world, stay connected to the protests on social media, and most importantly...don't stay quiet.
