A summer in Corfu: food for thought
When I went to Corfu, it was an utterly spellbinding experience. Flying from Gatwick airport, the t journey took approximately three hours. As we landed, the sunshine and warmth immediately became captivating and the scenery was gorgeous. I made so many new memories which would last a life time; I know that if I ever go there again, it will allow me to remember my first trip fondly.
Corfu is located in the Adriatic Sea, east of Italy and southwest of Albania. The waters are crystal clear, tinted with a delicate turquoise, and the aquamarine waves are powerful and fun for everyone. The beaches consist of fine grains of sand which are soft and heavenly when you walk on them. I highly recommend just relaxing on the beach while the incandescent sun glares down upon you. The Greek island is highly regarded due to the fantastic reports it has got from the inhabitants as well as the tourists; it has so much to offer! In particular, I thoroughly enjoyed the food in Corfu. It mainly consists of Greek classics, from light salads to delicious, wholesome meats and pastas. The bread is one of a kind, with many seasonings and nutritional goodness added to it. The food is rich, unique and delicious. One night, we couldn’t find space in the first two restaurants we tried as there was already a sheer amount of people eagerly tucking into their meals! That just proves how much the people love it there!
When you go out to eat, the scenery of the evening is breath-taking. If you are lucky and are in a restaurant by the sea, you can enjoy gazing upon the orb of the orange sun caressing the swirling, bubbling waves as you eat. Most of the apartments are lovely to stay in. You would be very fortunate as most of the places own swimming pools, so you can always go in and cool down if you get to hot, or sunbathe or relax in the shade around the pool. I varied as to what I did as I wanted to get a good taste of everything and be somewhat spontaneous. I found much enjoyment in Corfu; it really is a place you should visit and I highly recommend it if you are struggling to find a place to get away this summer holidays.
