Horse riding - a great hobby
I love horses and horse riding because I always have a good time when I am around them. You learn a lot, make new friends, see the countryside and get to explore a lot of different opportunities. For example, competitions, games, shows and new riding locations.
I go to a riding school called Horam Manor Riding Stables - I love it there and would definitely recommend it. I’ve ridden there every week for three years now and have progressed to working there. I work three days a week in summer holidays and half-terms and have never got bored of it - all the workers are super friendly! They do lessons and hacks and you can learn a lot. Whenever I am not in the best mood I go to the stables and always come back feeling a lot better.
They provide helmets and have group, private and semi-private lessons for half an hour. You can also have independent or guided hacks for thirty minutes or an hour. They have a range of different ponies and horses for everyone. Pony days are also available in which you can go on a half hour hack, learn how to tack up and untack, groom, muck out and complete all the yard chores. It is fun, educational and worthwhile.
Horse riding is classified as a sport although some people might think it shouldn’t be. However, just like any other sport, it requires hard work and determination. If you aren’t afraid to put in the hours, it is enjoyable, rewarding, fun and can help you find a horse that will be your best friend.
