Switching off for spring: the benefits of ditching your devices
Finally, we're saying goodbye to winter. Saying goodbye to the cold weather, the miserable days and the frosty mornings. Finally, we are coming into spring.
Spring: when the weather gets warmer and new days greet us with gleaming suns and blue skies. It’s when new life comes into the world: lambs, chicks and sprouting seedlings.
It’s easy to miss all of this, however; we stay indoors, and entertain ourselves with TV and social media. Unlike winter, spring is the perfect time for going outdoors, and seeing the young animals or planting flowers for summer. It’s important to switch off your devices and enjoy this wonderful season while it is here. If, over the February half term, you leave your iPad indoors and venture outside, you’ll be surprised at how much there is to do: go to the park, hang out with your friends, glimpse new life, admire the countryside, or walk through woods with carpets of bluebells. The possibilities are endless.
Turning off your phone, tablet and laptop will give your mind a chance to rest - it’s a much-needed break from the pressures of social media, school and repetitive digital games. You’ll likely be surprised at the difference it makes; give it a go!
