How to scrapbook: part two
With lockdown still on the go, Lottie Macro provides tips and tricks on how to up your scrapbooking game.
Since we are still in partial lockdown, you might have spare time on your hands. Leading on from my article in our previous issue, this article gives you extra advice on how to make your scrapbook shine. So, without further ado, gather your scrapbooking supplies and let’s get started.
You’ve purchased and rummaged through your supplies; you’ve collected what you intend to put in your scrapbook; and now you’re ready to transform your book from blank to brimming. Now what? Experiment with layout! You can use washi tape for a pretty border round the edge of your pages. When sticking down a photo, you can stick down a piece of patterned card or paper, that is slightly bigger than the photo, and stick the photo on top to create a bordered photo. You can fill any empty spaces on your page with writing, washi tape or stickers.
Next, experiment with writing. Although the name ‘Scrapbook’ suggests a book of ‘Scraps’, this doesn’t exclude writing! Writing in your scrapbook can make it even more personal. You can write: a title on your pages, captions for photos, or a paragraph to describe where a certain scrap came from. To make your page pretty, you can even try different calligraphy styles.
Finally, here are some important tips: don’t be afraid to cut up any scraps to make them fit on your page, fill up your pages so that you don’t waste space, and don’t focus on just one page – if you get stuck, move on to a different page because you can always come back and add anything to it that you find that could work.
Happy scrapbooking!
