Eco Reps: the Great British Spring Clean
Everyone wants the Earth to be clean and safe. Everyone wants a nice planet to call home. But this is getting increasingly difficult. Many people still don’t properly care for the environment, using unsustainable fuels, creating excessive waste or even worse, littering.
Littering is a significant problem at our school, and we Eco Reps have an idea to combat this. This year, we are taking part in the Great British Spring Clean, the nation’s biggest environmental campaign. The idea is for people to pledge to pick up a certain number of bags of litter, cleaning up their local area. It might not seem like much, but with many people from across the country taking part, it quickly adds up.
At the moment, over 145,000 bags of litter have been pledged, and the number will only continue to grow as time goes on. To help us Eco Reps with this task, we’re working with some year 7 geography classes on 26 March for the litter pick. Our aim is go around the school site and pick up as much as possible, hoping to collect more than the 20 bags we have pledged so far. This will help not only protect the environment, but clean up the school. If after reading this you want to get involved, please take a look at the site linked below. You can pledge a bag or two as an individual or group, and we would like as many people to get involved as possible. We’re hoping to take part in many other events like this, and if this is something you want to help with, contact Mr Fielding about Eco Reps.
