Making the most of Christmas
Thoughtfulness and kindness go hand in hand at Christmas. George Lovett tells us how we can share both of these with those around us.
Christmas. The festive time of year that brings love and joy. How can we bring thoughtfulness and kindness to the season, too?
With the increasing impact of climate change, we need to do everything we can to protect our lovely planet. The great thing is that anything, no matter how or big or small, can help! So, this Christmas it would be thoughtful to wrap your presents in recyclable paper instead of wrapping paper that contains glitter or plastic. Plastic consumption is still high and we need to reduce this as much as we can to avoid harming our planet further.
At Christmas, a lot of food and drink is bought. This is an issue because a lot of items will be packaged in plastic or non-recyclable packaging. Why not try shopping at your local zero waste shop? In a zero-waste shop, you can find everything you would usually get from your local supermarket but without the negative environmental impact as items have sustainable, recyclable packaging.
But it’s not just about the packaging – humans waste a lot of food at Christmas! Why not use your leftovers this year to make Bubble and Squeak, pie, or soup? Get creative and try not to let any food go to waste this year.
Kindness and sharing are the most important things about Christmas. So, if you know someone who is having a hard time, check in on them and spread love. Why not go to your neighbour’s and see if they are all okay? Any act of kindness will be appreciated.
Have a Merry Christmas!
