If you're looking for a book about surviving being a teenaged girl, this just might be it. Eva Neil reports
Geek girl is a fascinating book about a girl, just trying to get through life and cope with all her problems! Her name is Harriet Manners and she is 15/16. As her mum died just after she had Harriet, she lives with her dad and stepmum. Harriet is loving life - though she is a little bit of a geek! She has just finished her GCSE’s and has a plan for her to have the best summer ever. However, things start to go wrong when her best friend Nat - who wants to be a model – receives punishment as a consequence of her missing one of her exams on purpose.
Despite this devastating turn in events, Harriet is still determined to get through the summer by having fun by one last day out with her best friend at a model interview in Birmingham. Nat is extremely nervous and goes off to speak to an agent. Harriet doesn’t know what to do as she knows nothing about fashion - the next thing you know Harriet is causing havoc without meaning to and is ruining the whole market! An agent spots Harriet and takes some pictures of her to model in. Harriet is so shocked she doesn’t know a single thing to say or do. Unfortunately for the unsuspecting Harriet, Nat spots her and is absolutely fuming – and incredibly jealous. Has Harriet ruined Nat's dream? Is it over for her and Nat’s friendship? Make sure to read this book to find out what happens to Harriet and her summer - I would definitely recommend it!
